Ivysaur is the second pokemon on the national dex, and also is the second pokemon on the Kanto Region poke dex. It evolves from Bulbasaur  at level 16, and evolves later into Venasaur at level 32. You can not encounter any Ivysaurs unless you evolve your Bulbasaur or trade, so let’s move on to what they look like in the games.

Thank you Bulbapedia. Anyways, Ivysaur also appears in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue and Red Rescue Team, but only as a recruit. The percentage is -19% though. I don’t know what negative numbers mean, but I do know that is must be extremley rare for an Ivysaur to join you (although you can simple evolve yourself or your partner in Luminous Cave after you beat Rayquaza if it is a Bulbasaur). Here are the phrases Ivysaur will say when talked to:

• If the HP is 51-100%, then they will say when talked to: “My big flower is ready to bloom!”
• If the HP is 26-50%, then they will say when talked to: “My HP is down to half.”
• If the HP is 1-25%, then they will say when talked to: “I’m ready to keel over…”
• When they reach a new level, they will say: “My level went up! The bud is getting bigger, too!”

Their friend area is Beau Plains, and their recruit rate is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness is -10%. In both games, their body size is one. Anyways, here’s their data for Pokemon Ranger:

• It takes 6 loops to capture them.
• They are in the Grass group.
• Their Poke Assist is Grass.

1. In Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Fire Red, and Leaf Green version, you have to evolve your Bulbasaur to level 16.
2. In Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Colosseum, and XD, you can recieve Ivysaur by trading.
3. In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum version, you can recieve Ivysaur by Pal Park.
4. In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum’s Pal Park, you can receive Ivysaur in the field.
5. In Pokemon Trozei!, you can get Ivysaur in Mr. Who’s Den, or in Secret Storage 2.
6. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue and Red Rescue Team, you can recruit Ivysaur in Western Cave (anywhere between the nineteenth floor and the twentyseventh floor).
7. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness, you can recruit Ivysaur in either Mystifying Forest (anywhere between the first floor and the thirteenth floor), or Mystery Jungle (anywhere between the first floor and the twentyninth floor).
8. In Pokemon Ranger, you can capture Ivysaur in Lyra Forest.

Since Ivysaur can’t hold any items when encountered in the wild, I’ll just skip that and go to the moves that they can learn. There’s a lot, so Bulbapedia will help me yet again with it’s pics.

Yeah, only 3 moves affect Ivysaur’s STAB. Anyways, now it’s time for Ivysaur’s type effectiveness, or how Ivysaur’s type matches up well with others. Since it’s in chart form, and chart form is really hard to read, who do we call? Bulbapedia!

So, there you have it. Ivysaur’s weak to 4, resistamt to 4, and neutral to 8 just like their younger brother Bulbasaur. Now, it’s Ivysaur’s behaivior. Question: What kind of pokemon is right for you? Answer: Ivysaur! Ivysaur may be a bit more aggresive toward other pokemon than Bulbasaur is, but they are still very protective and loyal toward their trainer. Not to mention more powerful then a Bulbasaur! Speaking of being loyal to Trainer’s, May let her Bulbasaur evolve into one in the episode Home is Where the Start is. Isn’t it cute? Sorry, Ivysaur and Ash fans, but Ash did not let his Bulbasaur evolve into Ivysaur. But, not all Ivysaur’s live in Trainer’s poke balls. Some Ivysaurs live in plains next to an area of large sunshine and water. Others may even live in forests or jungles. But, they are pretty rare, and because of that, most are in captivity, so it isn’t surprising in the Kanto Region to see Ivysaurs next to a Trainer a lot. Ivysaur’s diet is the same as it’s pre-evolved form, Bulbasaur, which is eating everything it can get to because it is an omnivore. But, it can actually go several days without eating, because it can absorb the sun’s nutrients into the bud on it’s back. It’s a pretty strong pokemon to be able to do that. Speaking of strong, take a look on Ivysaur’s stats:

Way more stronger than Bulbasaur, that’s for sure. Sorry Bulbasaur, but you aren,t the strongest pokemon up there after all Anyways, Ivysaur is based off of a mammal-like reptile like Bulbasaur is. In Greek, it means lizard, and in Japan, it means, it seems strange. Also, another word claims it means in Japan, strange grass. Hmm…strange seed and strange grass. I wonder what Venasaur would be? Strange flower? Strange bloom? Strange plant? I don’t know, but I bet it’ll be strange something! Anyways, that’s about it, so it’s time agian to say good-bye. Bulbasaur フシギダネ Fushigidane

 That is a Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur’s are the first pokemon on the national pokedex, the Kanto Region pokedex, and the Fiore Region browser. They are also the Grass type starter, and not to mention the onlt Grass and Poison type starter ever, for the Kanto Region. It evolves into Ivysaur at level 16, and can then evolve into Venasaur at level 32. You can obtain Bulbasaur in the games Green, Red, Blue, Fire Red, and Leaf Green at the beginning of the game when Professor Oak gives you a chioce of Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Here is what they look like in the games:

Anyways, Bulbasaur also appears in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue and Red Rescue Team and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness as the hero or the partner. 2. In Yellow version, if Pikachu’s happiness is high enough at level 20, a girl in Cerulean City will give one to you.
3. In Gold, Crystal, and Silver version, you can receive Bulbasaur by the Time Capsule.
4. In Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Colosseum, amd XD version, you receive Bulbasaur by trading.
5. In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum version, you receive Bulbasaur by catching it at Pal Park.
6. In Pal Park of Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum version, you catch it in the field.
7. In Pokemon Snap, you can get Bulbasaur by the River.
8. In Pokemon Stadium one and two, you can get Bulbasaur in the Gym Leader Castle.
9. In Pokemon Channel, you can get Bulbasaur at the Bus Stop.
10. In Pokemon Trozei!, you can get Bulbasaur in either Phobos Train, Endless Level 16, Trozei Battle, or Mr. Who’s Den.
11. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue and Red Rescue Team, you can get Bulbasaur as  yourself, your partner, or in Joyous Tower (anywhere from the first floor to the fifth floor).
12. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness, you can get Bulbasaur as yourself, your partner, or in Mystifying Forest (anywhere from the first floor to the thirteenth floor), or in Mystery Jungle (anywhere from the first floor to the twentyninth floor).
13. In Pokemon Ranger, you can get Bulbasaur in Lyra Forest.

That’s is where you can obtain Bulbasaur. And now, for the items that Bulbasaur may be found with in the wild:

• A Bitter Berry (Crystal, Gold, and Silver version only).

A little bit short, I know, but thats that. And now finally, I’ll move on to moves. There’s really a lot, so I’ll call upon help from Bulbapedia to lend me support.

That isn’t revealed in a game or anything, so that’s why I’m revealing it to you (I didn’t even know what it meant until my buddy Bulbapedia helped me out, here). Also, HP is Hit Points or health, and EP is Experience Points. PP is Power Points. Now we’ll move onto Type effectiveness, or how effective it’s type is against other types. Bulbapedia, if you will…?

Thank you once again. As you can see, Bulbasaur is weak to 4 types, Resistant to 4, and Normally effected by 8. Anyways, now we move into behaivoir. Bulbasaurs are regarded as well-behaved pokemon, and the easiest of all the starters, as not to disobey. They are totally domestic, and have a type-advantage over the first two Kanto Gym Leaders, Brock and Misty. Soeaking of Brock and Misty, their companion, Ash, the main character in the Pokemon anime, has a Bulbasaur as his companion. This is a picture of Ash’s Bulbasaur:

(Yes, Bulbapedia helped me there as well). Ash obtained his Bulbasaur in the episode Bulbasaur in the Hidden Village. I don’t know much about that episode, so go to Bulbapedia for details. May also had a Bulbasaur which she caught in the Hoenn Region (I do not know how a pure Kanto Region pokemon lived in the Hoenn Region). It was caught in the episode Grass Hysteria. Again, I do not know much about this episode, so please go to Bulbapedia for details. And, finally, we move on to the diet and habitat of a Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur’s like to live in secret places, such as either gardens, plains right next to an area of a big body of freshwater, or in hollow logs of forest trees, but are very scarce in the wild. Nobody knows why. Some also can be found at Professor Oaks’ lab, but sometimes he runs out. Bulbasaur’s like most pokemon are omnivores, so they basically eat anything avalible. But, when food becomes scarce, Bulbasaurs do not have to eat that much, because they can use energy from the sun stored into their bulb. Now, I bet you’re wondering why Bulbasaur is called Bulbasaur. I’ll tell you, but first take a look at Bulbasaur’s stats:

Well, that is Bulbasaur’s stats. And now, finally, I will answer your question. Bulbasaur is based on some mammal-like reptiles, and his bulb is based on a lily. Bulbasaur’s name is also translated in Greek to lizard. In Japan, it means it’s strange, isn’t it? and also that;s kind of like a joke, because it’s the seed pokemon, and some Japanese word means Strange Seed. Look it up on Bulbapedia, that word.
